So as there are loads of amazing events taking place over the summer, we are very aware that some events can be too busy and also can be too expensive so we have put together this fantastic list of great free and low cost events which will allow you to make the most of your time and money.

 

EVENTS OVER SUMMER

Let's start with some events that will be running all summer, the May The Toys Be With You exhibition at Leicester Museum is open 7 days a week and showcases the impact that Star Wars has had, both in Leicestershire and across the world. Newarke Houses Museum will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the holidays, with some special events including a Dino Adventure Day, Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Castles & Cannons!

 

JUNE

The Thorpe Astley on the Beach*, takes place on the grounds of Thorpe Astley Community Centre, on 13th June. A fantastic day lined up for you, with activities like circus skills, bubble chasing, sea-side art & crafts, a surf simulator, giant inflatables, face painting, donkey rides, balloon modelling, Punch and Judy, fairground rides and food stalls and entry is free!

 

On Saturday 20th June the Birstall Gala* takes place at School Lane Playing Fields, Birstall, hosting live music and and a range of entertainment and then the next day Clarendon Park will be holding its annual Summer Fair on Sunday 21st June which includes great food and drink, live performances, craft stalls and a fantastic community atmosphere.

 

JULY

As July rolls around we see Cosmopolitan Arts Festival* come to Jubilee Square on Saturday 11th July, Now in its 15th year Cosmepolitan Arts offer a celebration of arts with live music, dance and performance workshops that will take over the city centre, most of it free!

 

At Newarke Houses Museum on Wednesday 22nd July the Summer Games Family Fun Day celebrates the Commonwealth Games. Kids can make their own medal and flag, then take part in some games and races on the lawn before following the sporty trail!

 

The dinosaurs are coming to Leicester this summer with Leicester Dino Fest! BID Leicester and Leicester Cathedral are teaming up for a weekend of family-friendly fun. There will be live dinosaur performances, roaming walkabout dinos, interactive family activities, and hands-on fossil experiences courtesy of Leicester Museums & Galleries! The Cathedral will also host a special relaxed screening of Disney Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur! Free entry except for the Cathedral screening.

 

AUGUST

On Saturday 15th August celebrate Summer at the Braunstone Town Summer Fete* held at Mossdale Meadows, Braunstone Town 11am - 4pm. With an amazing amount of activities & stalls including live music and performances, circus skills, bubble chasing, art &  crafts, inflatables, food trucks, stalls, fairground rides and much, much, more! Free entry!

Giggle Town Arts offer a range of activities that are free at point of delivery at events. Come and join in with our activities, or pop over to our info table on the day and discover what we have on offer! It could be Circus Skills, Bubble Fun, Art & Craft Activities, Puppet Fun or meet & greet with our characters.
